How we test and how we earn
How we earn
- Affiliate links. Some links to retailers are affiliate links (through Sovrn Commerce): when you buy through them, we may earn a commission, at no cost to you. Each one is marked where it appears.
- Akhna, our own app. We also make Akhna, a Mac app for asking questions about your own documents with a model running on your Mac. Where we mention it, we say it is ours. Our measurements come from its benchmark suite, and our Mac numbers should be read with that in mind: that is why we publish the method and the ceiling next to each one.
- No sponsored placements. Nobody pays to be listed, ranked or reviewed here.
How we test
- Every number carries a label: spec, cited, derived, measured or assumption. "Measured" means measured by us, on hardware we own; everything else is linked to its source or computed with a rule we show.
- The machines we have measured are listed on the Measured page with their dates and software versions. Machines we have not used appear with spec, cited and derived numbers only.
- Prices carry the date we read them. Memory prices moved every few weeks in 2026, so a price is only true on its date.
- Recommendations are written before any link is added, and commission rates do not change the order.
- Deal search ranks by how well a product matches your search, never by commission. Sort by price or by drop if you want those.
- Corrections are dated on the page they correct.
